Rocking TowerFounding Century: VII Region: Shirak Location: Village of Harich. Near the monastery complex of Harichavank
A unique, partially man-made and partially natural, monument, the “Rocking Tower is located near the monastery complex of Harichavank (7th-13th centuries). It is a miniature chapel built on massive tuff rock and measures 2x2.5x3 meters. The chapel has withstood many earthquakes and landslides, causing it to lean at a 10 degree angle.
The village of Harich, for which the monastery complex is named, goes back to the second century B.C. and contains remnants of ancient fortifications.
