Armenia to host an International Forum on Tourism this fall

The number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia this year is expected to grow by 8-10 percent to around 800,000, according to Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan.

In 2011 Armenia was visited by 758,000 foreign tourists and teh average spending per person was $1,000.

Minister of Economy of RA Tigran Davtyan said Yerevan will host an international forum on Human Values and Cultural Diversity in the 21st Century: the Importance of Tourism, October 18-19. The gathering to be held under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization will be attended by tourism ministers and 120 representatives of the sector.

He said the event will provide Armenia with an unprecedented opportunity to showcase its tourist potential.
