In 1998 ArmenTel commenced the installation of new card-phones in the city of Yerevan. In 1999 the card-phone installation was expanded to the regions of Armenia. By the end of 2000 five hundred forty (540) card-phone devices were installed and operational in the Republic of Armenia, of which 497 are in Yerevan.
Card-phone usage is straightforward with multi-language prompts and permit local, mobile, long distance and international access. The costs of the telecards is as follows:
50 units telecard costs 960 AMD
100 units telecard costs 1920 AMD
300 units telecard costs 5760 AMD
500 units telecard costs 9600 AMD
